Twitter removes over 2000 suspected state-run ‘Chinese fake accounts’ but zero abusive accounts that have been linked to racism and racist hatred on the platform.

Twitter Inc. released a statement and said that on Thursday it has removed more than 3,465 accounts that were operating as foreign state-linked information operations.

The network of accounts that amplified Chinese Communist Party narratives related to the treatment of the Uyghur population in Xinjiang were removed. Of the 3,465 accounts removed, 2,160 were linked to operations attributed to China.

    Twitter Search for other accounts

Twitter search has also addressed other countries on the list, but no accounts from the US or UK were included on the list. Other accounts that were removed were linked to operations attributed to six countries, including Mexico, China and Russia, Twitter said in a blog post.

The company also said it will start the Twitter moderation research consortium in early 2022 to study platform governance issues.
