Priti Patel vows tough jail terms to deter ‘asylum shopping’
The Times says migrants and people smugglers face heavier prison sentences after Priti Patel announced a proposed widening of immigration laws, vowing to clamp down on “asylum shopping.”
The home secretary has pledged to fix Britain’s “broken asylum system” and wants to make it a crime to knowingly arrive in the country without permission as part of the Nationality and Borders Bill which is due for its first reading in parliament tomorrow.
