Body cams for paramedics after rise in attacks
Assaults on ambulance workers in England has risen by almost a third in five years, more than 3,500 attacks were recorded last year alone.
Ambulance workers in England are welcoming the news they will be given body-worn cameras which are currently being trialled by some staff.
It is understood the NHS will make the body camera equipment available to all 10 of England’s ambulance trusts by the end of June.

Chief people officer for NHS England Prerana Isaar said: “Every member of our dedicated and hardworking NHS staff has the fundamental right to be safe at work and it is our priority to eliminate violence and abuse, which we will not tolerate.”
The camera can start recording at the touch of a button if the public becomes aggressive or abusive and recordings can be shared with the police and used as evidence in court, NHS England said.
