Colorado shooting: 6 dead in birthday party massacre, US mass shooting on the rise again

A man has shot dead six adults, including his girlfriend, before turning the gun on himself at a birthday party in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The massacre took place early Sunday, the children who were present at the party were not shot, officials said.

“The suspect, a boyfriend of one of the female victims, drove to the residence, walked inside and began shooting people at the party before taking his own life,” a statement released by the Colorado Springs Police Department said.

No motive has yet been established.

The massacre is the latest in a resurgence of mass shootings in the United States after such incidents seemed to recede during the height of Covid-19 restrictions.
