90s singer surprises own boyband by announcing his return after 11 years

Abz Love has announced he is rejoining Five, also known as 5ive, after 11 years away from the band.

The singer confirmed his surprise return with a post on X, and even his own bandmates were seemingly shocked by the news.

‘As of today I am once again a member of @itsfiveofficial Thank you to all the fans who support us, I love you all..’ Abz typed on the social media platform.

This wasn’t just a random assortment of words, the phrasing was instead a direct reference to how he revealed his departure back in 2014. His post then read: ‘As of today I am no longer a member of @itsfiveofficial Thank you to all the fans who support us, I love you all..’

The humorous post tickled his bandmates Scott Robinson, Sean Conlon and Ritchie Neville.

Scott, 45, didn’t know that Abz, also 45, was coming back. ‘Wow what a way to find this out! Love you brother,’ he remarked.

‘C’mon Abz!! Cracking up over this,’ added Sean, 43. ‘You really sure this time? That’s 4 out of 5 now…’ joked Ritchie, 45. Jason Paul Brown or ‘J’ is currently the only original member not currently involved in the upcoming reunion. However, some fans are hopeful that he could make it a full house.

After releasing their debut single Slam Dunk Da Funk in 1998, Five went on to score three number-one singles, and a number-one album. Just three years after the release of their debut single, with the world at their feet, Five split.

In the BBC documentary Boybands Forever, former manager Simon Cowell concedes that Five is the band that ‘got away’. The group were close to breaking America but disbanded before fully making their impact.

They have reunited several times over the years, most recently on ITV show The Big Reunion in 2013, but J was not involved.

J wasn’t entirely happy with the claims they made about his ‘bullying’ behaviour: ‘I thought, “I actually can’t believe what I’m hearing and who I’m hearing it from”.

‘I was loud and a bit aggressive at times, and I was physically bigger than them so I can see how that could have been taken a certain way.

‘But never in my mind was I so-called bullying people.’

It appears the past has been left in the past as four days ago, the official account for 5ive began teasing that big news was coming soon.

‘27.02.25 Loading…’ they wrote alongside a video of a train station, with the lyrics to their hit Keep On Movin’ featuring on a ticker board.

Earlier today they reposted Abz’s words with the same message, and once again, they included a link to their website.

Information is currently sparse but fans are invited to enter their email addresses so they can be first to know the big news, whether that be an album, a tour or something else entirely.

Another big sign that all five men are going to be involved is the group’s decision to wipe their individual Instagram profiles. Additionally, a new company called All Five Ltd was started on Companies House last year, and all five band members are listed as directors.
