Metro – 11% hell is on the way
Inflation is set to soar to 11% as the cost of living crisis continues to pile pressure on millions of Britons, Metro reports.
Inflation has shot up to its highest level in 40 years as soaring energy bills put millions of households under pressure.
The rate rose to 9% in the year to April, up from an already high 7% in March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. It was the fastest measured rate since records began in 1989, and the ONS estimates it was the highest since 1982.
But experts have warned that the poorest households are bearing the brunt of rising prices, with analysis by economic think tanks estimating they face a rate closer to 11%.
