From the start, Sam Thompson’s enthusiasm and sheer joy at being on I’m A Celebrity had fans rooting for him – and his girlfriend Zara McDermott wasn’t any different.

The Love Island star has been vocal in supporting Sam, 31, and the entire family’s eruption of applause in celebration of his win is utterly heartwarming.

Poor Sam was nearly vomiting as he choked down a pig’s vagina, a witchetty grub, and a literal camel’s toe securing the final main meals for himself, Nigel Farage and Tony Bellew.

Zara, 26, posted the video of everyone watching the finale to her 1.9 million followers on Instagram shortly after the Made in Chelsea star was crowned King of the Jungle.

‘The moment we all found out… OUR KING OF THE JUNGLE!!!!!!!👑🌴🍃✨😭😭😭😭😭,’ she captioned the sweet video.

As the announcement is made the family lept up in joy, with Zara screaming and crying as she hugged everyone.

Fans were equally as thrilled for the star, with Adam Frisby commenting: ‘Ahhhh honestly what a guy!! He’s been such a pleasure to watch, not a bad bone in that guys body and such a deserving winner!! Well done Sam 💚💚💚.’

‘It would have been criminal if he hadn’t won he made the series this year 💓,’ added Laura Hill.

Another fan Stacey Forster shared: ‘Omg him and Pete at the end can’t cope love him.’

TV presenter and absolute icon, Alison Hammond, commented: ‘Golden moment ❤️’

Zara’s brother Brad excitedly added: ‘HES THE KING BAAAABBYYY.’

Viewers had flooded social media to share how deserving Sam was of the title but also how much they adored his friendship with Towie’s Pete Wicks.

The pair had first met on Celebs Go Datings a few years back but their black cat-golden retriever dynamic instantly clicked and they have been best friends since.

Pete was the one to greet Sam as he crossed that bridge, hugging him tightly as the new King of the Jungle lept into his arms.

Fans were wondering why Zara hadn’t gone but her commitments to Strictly meant the ticket was booked and arrangements made by the time she was eliminated.

When he was crowned, Sam shared how much it all meant to him and how he hadn’t even thought he’d be picked for the ITV staple.

Before knowing he’d won, the I’m A Celeb superfan said his time in the jungle was ‘like a dream I didn’t want to be woken up from.’
