Pre-orders go live today (Picture: Microsoft)
If you’ve never been a fan of the all white Xbox Series S, Microsoft has announced a black alternative at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Since they’ve launched, the Xbox Series X and S have only ever been available in one colour (discounting limited edition variants offered): the former in black and the latter in white.
At today’s Xbox Games Showcase, though, Xbox boss Phil Spencer debuted a new black variant of the Xbox Series S, matching the colour of its big sibling.
It’ll be available for sale in just a few months’ time on September 1 for $349, which is roughly £278.
There’s no official UK pricing yet but that still makes it a bit more expensive than the current Xbox Series S, which Microsoft’s own store lists at £249.99.
Pre-orders will go live later today so we’ll be sure to update this article with the UK price.

The slight bump in price is because the black Xbox Series S offers a lot more storage space: 1TB to be exact.
Microsoft hasn’t mentioned if this is the only option for the black Xbox Series S or if there are plans to offer alternate colours for the Xbox Series X.
