There have been more than 70,000 reports of issues on X – formerly Twitter – according to the latest data from Downdetector.com.

X – formerly Twitter – suffered widespread outages on Thursday in several countries on both its social media app and website, impacting tens of thousands of users.
Frustrated users in countries including the UK, US and India were logging onto the hugely popular social media platform – owned by multi-billionaire Elon Musk – only to be presented with a message reading “Welcome to X”, instead of the regular tweets on their feed.
The latest data from Downdetector.com showed there had been more than There have been over 70,000 reports of problems on the platform from across multiple countries since 5.30am.
Those users on X’s blue tick premium subscription service, X Pro, were also encountering problems, with their feeds simply showing a message that read: “Waiting for posts.”

By 7am, the X social media app and website appeared to be returning to normal for some users.
The reason behind the global outage remains unclear, with X yet to publicly comment on the issues.
But this isn’t the first time X has experienced a major outage affecting scores of users in 2023.
The hugely popular social media platform has been hit be widespread problems over recent months, including in March, July, and most recently in October.
During the outage in March, X users were presented with what appeared to be a welcome page that seemed to suggest they were not following anyone on the platform yet.
It read: “Welcome to Twitter! This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow now.”
Several users of the platform complained about not being able to use X properly after they encountered problems trying to access links, images and videos.
A few months later in July, thousands of people quickly found they couldn’t retrieve tweets, while noticing missing timelines and followers disappearing.
Most recently in October, X users found they couldn’t log in to their accounts or get online at all.
Anyone successful in logging on and seeing posts on their feed were met with tweets that appeared empty or not showing properly.
