All Elite Wrestling fans didn’t know where to look as ‘Hangman’ Adam Page literally drank the blood of Swerve Strickland.
The two bitter rivals face off in an utterly gruesome Texas Deathmatch at AEW Full Gear on Saturday night, and even by the match’s violent standards, the two wrestlers went to sickening levels.
Both men ended up bleeding during the bout, and at one brutal point Page stapled a piece of paper to his opponent’s cheek before roughly ripping them out.
In a moment that left viewers gobsmacked, he positioned himself under Strickland – who spent two years in WWE as Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, enjoying most of his success on the NXT brand – and opened his mouth as the very real blood dripped down.
Although fans were in awe of the action and praised the story being told throughout the match – which lived up to its billing – there were plenty of people disgusted by the scenes.
‘No need for this. Disgusting,’ one viewer tweeted, as someone else said they ‘almost vomited and a third person wrote: ‘Sorry but that is just gross af.’

Wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful branded it ‘one of the sickest things’ he’s seen in the business, while another fan added: ‘I can’t believe I saw Hangman Paige literally drink another man’s blood that was disgusting.’
‘You had me until Hangman drank the blood homie. That’s disgusting,’ admitted a different X (formerly Twitter) user, with someone else writing: ‘Hangman literally forced Swerve to drip blood into his mouth.. So disgusting.’
Other people pointed out that swapping blood like that ‘is not smart’, and thought it was an ‘unnecessary’ move and ‘a line crossed’.
Strickland emerged victorious in the bout, and simply tweeted after the show: ‘My house.’
‘You can’t take me hell, you’re already there. You can’t take me somewhere I’ve already been. I’ve got real estate,’ he added in an intense video shot backstage in the aftermath of the match.
‘I own you now, Hangman,’ he said, before issuing an ominous warning to the rest of the AEW roster.
