Israeli settlers attack and raise the flag of “Israel” in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. As they broke into the courtyard claiming it was there’s.

A settler flew the Israeli flag on Monday as he forced his way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied West Jerusalem to mark the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Israeli far-right activists have repeatedly pushed for an increased Jewish presence at al-Aqsa, despite a longstanding joint guardianship agreement between Israel and Jordan.

Over 770 Israeli settlers, accompanied by security officers, broke into the Al-Aqsa compound in Jerusalem on Monday morning and again in the afternoon, local media reported.

They entered through the Moroccan Gate on the western side of the site, which the Israeli authorities have controlled since the beginning of the occupation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1967.

    right wing Israeli parties

Some right wing Israeli parties have advocated for the destruction of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound to make way for a Third Temple.

According to the Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department, which oversees the holy sites in Jerusalem, more than 1,000 Israeli settlers broke into the site in the past few days to mark the week-long Sukkot festival.

Israeli extremists want to seize the eastern area of the al-Aqsa compound, known as al-Rahmeh Gate, to turn it into an exclusive Jewish praying site, accessed by an ancient gate in the eastern wall of the Old City

Last month, the Israeli army killed four Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp during an operation that led to armed confrontations.
