A woman who allegedly stabbed dead her roommate asked cops for a drink and poured it over herself in an attempt to erase DNA evidence.
Nichole Maks, 35, was found by police after investigators responded to a house fire and found a male body with stab wounds as well as two cell phones, one belonging to her, KATV reported.
The other cell phone was owned by Michael Cerasoli, 79, who was identified as the deceased body and Maks’ roommate.
Cops issued a bulletin across the agency to search for Maks, whom they considered a person of interest in the fatal stabbing at the Daytona Beach home on July 1.

An hour later, cops discovered Maks at an intersection close to a restaurant.
Maks was carrying a knife and hammer and dropped both weapons upon seeing cops. Officers said Maks had blood on her leg and that her toe was bleeding, and that part of her shirt was stained with blood and appeared torn or cut.
When questioned by police, Maks changed her story several times including claiming she was homeless. She later admitted that she lived with Cerasoli and that his bedroom was upstairs and she never went up there unless it was to ‘feed her spiders’, WESH reported.
Maks became agitated when when detectives asked her about the knife and hammer and asked for a lawyer.

She then asked for a drink and cops gave her a Diet Mountain Dew.
Maks doused the soda all over her body and hair ‘in attempt to interfere with the possible evidence on’ her, states an affidavit.
But Cerasoli’s DNA was on a knife blade recovered near his body at the home and Maks’ DNA was on the knife handle, according to the affidavit.
Maks was charged with first-degree premediated murder. She is jailed without bond.
