A pensioner is fighting for her life after she was knocked off her mobility scooter and left with serious head injuries.
The 86-year-old was taken to hospital after a silver Renault car hit her, as she was out with her husband – who was also on a scooter.
Police are now appealing for witnesses after the crash on Friday in Bipsham, Lancashire at around 11.45am.
Officers were called to the junction of Cavendish Road and Devonshire Road after reports of the crash.
Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
The Renault driver and passenger were uninjured.
The injured woman was travelling with her husband who was riding a similar red mobility scooter.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses and anybody with DashCam footage of the incident to contact police.’
Sergeant Marc Glass from the Roads Policing Unit said, ‘We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Bispham on Friday morning.
‘An elderly woman has suffered serious injuries and we are trying to establish exactly how the collision happened.
‘If you witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles before it, please contact us.
