Goldie Hawn might just have the best alien encounter tale of them all (Picture: FilmMagic)
If there was ever a year that celebrities felt vindicated about their claims of alien encounters and UFOs, it was 2023.
These past 12 months have given us Gwyneth Paltrow’s random ski trial, all the TMI details about Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage and Taylor Swift’s high-speed dating life. However, nothing has been more out of this world than aliens basically being confirmed in US Congress.
What’s even more unreal is that it wasn’t a scene out of an A-list action-packed blockbuster where the shredded protagonist tries to save the world from an alien invasion or else the human race is doomed, but actually real life which is clearly stranger than fiction.
Celebrities from Miley Cyrus to Elvis and Nick Jonas have been telling us for yonks that they’ve interacted with the extra-terrestrial, and they were (maybe) proven right this year.
We all fell to our knees (some in laughter, others in disbelief) when Goldie Hawn claimed an alien touched her face and cackled when Cardi B and Offset got into an argument about whether little green men really do exist.
And let’s not forget when Britney Spears wrote in her book that she experienced paranormal activity.

It truly has been an enlightening year.
However, no one’s encounter tops Goldie’s with the ‘finger of God.’
‘I went outside my door, and I sat on the little ledge, and I looked up at the dark sky. And I saw all these stars. And all I could think of was … “Are we the only planet in the whole wide universe that has life on it?”’ she said on the Time To Walk podcast.
She said she called out to any aliens listening, saying she knows ‘we’re not alone, and I would like to meet you one day. Four months later, she was settling down for a nap in a friend’s car and suddenly heard a ‘high frequency’ in her ear.
Out of nowhere, Goldie claims she then saw three ‘triangular-shaped heads’, silver in colour with a ‘tiny little nose,’ no ears and ‘a slash for a mouth.’
The aliens ‘were pointing at me … discussing me like I was a subject.’
The actress said she was unable to move, but that the aliens ‘touched me and it felt like the finger of God.’
‘It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light.’
It’s safe to say that’s probably the most detailed and outlandish account of a celebrity alien encounter and the world was living for it.

Rockman99 joked on Reddit: ‘Whew. My alien mask worked!!’ while theREALlackattack wondered: ‘Was this before or after Kurt Russell filmed The Thing?’ referring to her life partner’s iconic sci-fi movie role.
@Gilganjun1 was particularly cynical about Goldie’s recollection of events and wrote on X: ‘Story says she was napping in a car when it happened. Chances are it was all a dream.’
However, there’s one man who has no doubts about Goldie’s story.
Nick Pope is a former civil servant and now UFO investigator and has spent years looking into the extra-terrestrial.
‘I welcome the fact that celebrities now seem comfortable speaking out about their sightings and experiences,’ he told Metro.co.uk.
‘Some of these stories are truly amazing, and as creative types, celebrities can often describe their encounters in a vivid way that brings the events to life, in a way that most witnesses are unable to do.’
That would certainly be the best way to describe Goldie’s storytelling.
‘I’d like to see celebrity UFO witnesses acting as champions for this subject, using their public profiles to advocate for the topic in the media, and to raise awareness, particularly with young people. Celebrities are often courted by political figures, and can have a lot of influence,’ he added.
When former intelligence officer David Charles Grusch claimed the US government was hiding evidence of ‘non-human intelligence’ during a public Congress hearing, celebrities reacted in their droves.
Whoopi Goldberg said during a discussion on The View: ‘Well I knew! I don’t know why everyone else is so surprised. We’re not the only ones in the universe. We’re just not… Here’s the thing, there are more things in heaven and earth than we are aware of and we have to be aware because that is the nature of being an earthling.’
The Sister Act star added of an alien invasion: ‘It’s going to happen, it has happened and so far we’re alright. I’m not saying yay or nay.’
It may have been buried amid all the other bombshells in her memoir, but Britney’s tale of an other-worldly experience makes for a great read.
In her memoir The Woman In Me, she wrote about how she was on a road trip to Arizona with a friend when something strange occurred. Both ‘heartbroken’ from break-ups, they were ‘beside’ themselves with ‘grief and loneliness’ as they drove through the desert in their convertible with the top down.
Then, an ‘eerie feeling settled over [Britney]’, the star explained. ‘In this moment, something filled me: a profound beauty, otherworldly and humbling.’
‘Call it God, call it a higher power, or call it a paranormal experience. Whatever it was, it was real enough that we could experience it together,’ the Toxic hitmaker continued, using the experience as a metaphor for her needing to raise her voice, even when she was scared to be seen as ‘crazy.’
Rylan Clark, meanwhile, was left with ‘twinges’ after once seeing a UFO flitting around the sky.
However, not everyone celeb is a believer.
Cardi B shattered hopes when she revealed she doesn’t believe there’s other life in the great beyond, saying in October: ‘I really don’t believe that aliens are real, because it’s like, okay, so if aliens are real, and they’re smarter than us, right, why they just haven’t invaded us?
‘Aliens, if they smart, they know how humans are. Humans are despicable. They want to take over everything; they just want to have power over everything.’
Amid the congress hearings in the US, her then-husband Offset argued: ‘I think that aliens exist. I’ve been seeing UFOs. It’s live footage of them m***********s too now.’
Still, UFO expert Pope is confident that the tide is turning and celebrities could even help ‘lobby MPs and peers to raise the subject in Parliament’ after seeing the impact of the US hearings.
Whatever the truth is, 2023 was truly an entertaining year that showed us that, yes, celebrities have very flamboyant imaginations but when it comes to aliens, they might just be right on the money.
