Thousands of runners are due to take to the streets of the capital on Sunday April 23 for the London Marathon – and once again a group of famous faces will be taking on the race in memory of acting legend Barbara Windsor.

The Peggy Mitchell actress and Carry On star died on December 10 2020 aged 83, following a battle against Alzheimer’s Disease – and as in previous years the group, known as ‘Babs’ Army’, have run the race to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

This year sees several EastEnders stars sticking on their running shoes and joining in with the fundraising effort

But which cast members are taking part in the London Marathon in Barbara’s memory? Here’s who you need to look out for…

Which EastEnders stars are running the London Marathon?

Barbara’s widower Scott Mitchell will once again be taking part in the 26-mile race through the streets of London – and he’ll be joined by several cast members past and present.

They include Heather Peace (Eve Unwin), Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler and Lacey Turner, aka Stacey Slater.

Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt will be joining them, along with Tanya Franks – aka Rainie Highway – and Jane Slaughter, who plays Tracey the barmaid.

The line-up is completed by EastEnders extra John McIntyre, Lacey Turner’s sister Daisy Luckett, Adam Woodyatt’s son Sam, G-A-Y nightclub boss Jeremy Joseph, and former Bake Off winner Candice Brown.

Actor Jake Wood – aka Max Branning – was also due to take part but has had to drop out due to suffering a chest infection.

Lacey Turner is joining the runners for the first time this year, having previously had to drop out in 2019 after falling pregnant with her daughter Dusty.

The actress recently revealed that she can hear Barbara Windsor in her ear encouraging her while she is training.

Speaking to This Morning, she said: ‘I hear her now when I am running, saying “come on love, keep going”.
