‘What took you so long?’ – Bruno Fernandes sends message to Mason Mount after Man Utd move

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes became the first of Mason Mount’s new team-mates to publicly welcome him to the club…by asking the midfielder: ‘What took you so long?’.

Mount completed a £55m move to Old Trafford this morning after penning a five-year deal with the club.

Chelsea rejected three bids from United before finally agreeing to a deal after Mount made it clear he would not sign a contract extension at the club.

Mount had offers on the table from Arsenal and Liverpool but his preferred destination was Old Trafford, and he was understandably delighted that the deal finally went through.

It was the culmination of months of speculation that left Mount frustrated, as he wanted the deal to be completed when the transfer window opened in mid-May.

But it appears Mount wasn’t the only impatient one, as Fernandes questioned what took the midfielder so long in completing his deal.

Taking to Instagram to post a photo of himself arguing with Mount during a game at Old Trafford in 2022, Fernandes wrote: ‘What took you so long to sign’.

The playmaker followed that up with an angry face emoji, before saying: ‘Welcome @masonmount’ with a bicep emoji alongside.

How do you rate the signing, Reds?
