What time is PMQs today? PM to face grilling as UK inflation soars

PMQs is back – after a long three-week break – and domestic issues are set to dominate the agenda.

PM Boris Johnson will face Labour’s Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions today. At the top of the agenda is likely the cost of living crisis in the UK which has increased at its fastest rate for four decades, with soaring energy bills putting strain on millions of households, as pressure piles on the government to provide support.

Today’s PMQs will also mark the first time Keir Starmer will face questions over Beergate – Starmer and deputy Angela Rayner have both said they will step down if they are fined for breaking Covid rules. Both deny breaking the rules.

    What time is PMQs today?

The next Prime Minister’s Questions is on Wednesday 18 May, kicking off at 12 noon. It comes after a three-week break.

What can you expect from Prime Minister’s Question?

PMQs today is set to be dominated by domestic issues, Labour is likely to focus on the cost of living crisis, in particular inflation which has reached its highest point in 40 years.

There have been widespread calls for chancellor Rishi Sunak to do more for ordinary people during the cost of living crisis.

PM Boris Johnson is likely set to focus on Beergate – which has had several updates since the last PMQs on 27 April.

Starmer maintains he did not breach covid rules but given the tone Starmer adopted when confronting the PM over the Partygate scandal, he’s likely to be called a hypocrite in the Commons today.
