Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney‘s Welcome to Wrexham is a Disney Plus series that follows Wrexham FC’s unique journey.
The docuseries, released in August 2022, lifted the lid on what happened behind the scenes after the actors purchased the third-oldest professional football club in the world over 18 episodes.
In the first season, we saw Hollywood royalty settle into life at the helm of the Welsh club. While initially a little out of sorts, they quickly learned the rules and regulations and got to work guiding the team to some victories.
The show also focuses on the Wrexham community, the team of course, and the power of football.
The combination led to a pretty successful series with a loyal following.
But what exactly do we know about season two…
Will there be a season 2 of Welcome To Wrexham?
Yes! This isn’t just rumours, it’s been confirmed on Disney Plus’ official Twitter page.
They wrote: ‘Coming in 2023, Season 2 is going to be WILD.’
Although we now have an official statement confirming it’s coming this year, Ryan did tweet that it would happen in October. The man doesn’t lie!
Where to watch in the UK
Disney Plus is the host of the original show, and a subscription will cost you £7.99 a month or £79.90 for the whole year.
The first season is already available to binge-watch on Disney Plus if you haven’t caught up yet.
If it covers the 2022-2023 football season, which was just after where the first season left off, then filming will finish in June. This could mean a late summer release date if we’re lucky.

What will season 2 cover?
As it’s covering real-life events that have happened over the course of the last season we’ve got some pretty clear indicators as to what will go down.
The series will likely focus around Wrexham’s epic season-long title tussle with Notts County, as well as their rise to the top.
They ended last season in 2nd place of their league, having fought their way from 20th.
This month, Wrexham won 3-1 against Boreham Wood making them Vanarama National League Champions, and they are now in League Two – a dream that was expressed throughout the first season.
The match was attended by Paul Rudd, who could therefore make a cameo.

He’s not the only famous face that could pop up – King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort made a royal visit to their ground, The Racecourse Ground.
Ryan and Rob may be whisking the footballers off to Las Vegas to celebrate their epic win, which would make a great feature within one of the episodes (if slightly chaotic).
They are also in America in San Diego for a friendly match against Manchester United in July, but that may be slightly out of the filming schedule – could be good for a season three though.

The club has its eyes on Welsh footballing legend Gareth Bale, so those negotiations could be something that is explored within the show as well as the restoration of the ground.
Also, since the Disney Plus docuseries Wrexham FC has gained even more of an international fanbase, and it would be hard to ignore that impact within the new episodes.
So to summarise, and quote Disney Plus it’s going to be ‘wild.’
Welcome to Wrexham season one is available to stream on Disney Plus.
