‘We are none the wiser’ – Frank Warren sets deadline for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk agreement at the end of the week

Frank Warren has set a deadline for the end of the week for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk to be agreed with no deal in place yet.

IBF, WBO and WBA champion Usyk and WBC king Fury are on collision course for a historic bout to crown the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis.

Talks have been underway since The Gypsy King’s dominant victory over Derek Chisora in December with 29 April the proposed date in front of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium.

However, Fury’s promoter Warren says they are ‘none the wiser’ as to whether the undisputed showdown will go ahead.

‘You need the agreement of both boxers to make it happen and at the moment we haven’t got that,’ Warren told talkSPORT.

‘I have a pot and out of that pot I can only pay what’s in it. And if it’s not enough money the fight won’t happen, at the end of the day we’re running a business.’

Speaking to Jim White and Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, Warren refused to disclose any more details over the negotiations but insisted all parties are still working towards a deal being signed off.

But he suggested a full agreement will be needed by the end of the week if they wish to proceed with that 29 April date.

‘We’re working hard to make it happen,’ Warren continued. ‘And, with the greatest respect, I didn’t ring talkSPORT to do an interview about it, you rang me.

‘So, out of courtesy I’m telling you where we are, but I’m not going to be conducting negotiations at the moment they’re confidential between the two parties.

‘But, I would say it’s not going to go past the end of this week that’s for sure because the proposed date is April 29.’

Should the historic meeting fail to happen, former world title challenger and Olympic gold medal winner Audley Harrison is eager to see Deontay Wilder come in and challenge the undefeated Usyk.

‘He definitely has more to give to the sport, he essentially won the world title as a novice and just came into Tyson Fury who had his number,’ Harrison told Mega Casino.

‘We don’t really want to see that fourth fight, even though he can push Fury all the way, so it leaves Joshua and Usyk. If he clips Usyk, I think he will be out. But Usyk can move so well, he also has the ability to beat people up to the body and head as well.

‘It is a good clash of styles, so I definitely think it would be a great fight to watch.’
