Coco Gauff admits she is ‘very frustrated’ following her shock first round defeat at Wimbledon to fellow American Sofia Kenin.
Gauff headed to SW19 as the seventh seed and was tipped to do well at the Championships but world No.128 Kenin registered a stunning 6-4 4-6 6-2 victory.
Gauff reached the fourth round in her first two Wimbledon appearances before a third-round exit last year, with 2023 now marking her worst performance to date.
The 19-year-old, reflecting on her loss to Kenin, said: ‘Right now I’m very frustrated and disappointed.
‘So, yeah, I think it makes me want to work even harder. I feel like I have been working hard, but clearly it’s not enough.
‘I have to go back to the drawing board and see where I need to improve and how to do the right drills to do that.’
Gauff, pressed on areas in which she needed to improve, added: ‘Definitely taking care of my service games.

‘I do think I’m a better server than her, but I think she took care more of the plus-ones and plus-twos a lot better than I did.
‘Obviously my forehand. I mean, being more aggressive on those shots. I think I made too many errors on my forehand and backhand today.’
Gauff reached the French Open final last year and is still attempting to register her maiden Grand Slam trophy.
