    Vance meets with leader of Germany's far-right AfD, attacks Europe over free speech and democracy

    US Vice President JD Vance on Friday met with Alice Weidel, leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, his office said.

    News of the meeting came after top German officials pushed back against Vance’s complaints about the state of democracy and freedom of expression in Europe.

    At the Munich Security Conference, US Vice President J.D. Vance delivered a speech criticizing European leaders for what he perceives as restrictions on free speech and their handling of mass migration.

    His remarks sparked varied reactions, with notable European figures like German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Chancellor Olaf Scholz denouncing Vance’s comments as inappropriate.

    The speech has ignited a debate on the balance between freedom of speech and security, with some seeing Vance’s critique as a defense of liberal values, while others view it as an attack on European governance.

    European Leaders acted furiously

    Their fury was even greater because they couldn’t do anything to him: they cannot sue him, delete his YT channel, close his social media pages, close his bank accounts, or call the police at 6 in the morning.

    Vance left Europe’s ruling class completely stunned, and they can’t stand it. They are used to dealing with ordinary citizens, whom they can silence with censorship, arrests, or financial blacklisting.
