Unions poised to dismiss offer of 3% pay rise for NHS staff
The Times says NHS staff will be given a 3 per cent pay rise by the government in coming days but the increase is still likely to be opposed by unions.
In March the government announced plans for a 1 per cent pay rise which was heavily criticised, including by some Conservative MPs.
Boris Johnson defended the proposal after ministers said it was made “on the basis of affordability”, but added that no decision would be made until an independent pay review body had given its final recommendations.
