UK weather: Thunder and lightning to hit southern England after sweltering 30C day
The Mirror says fierce storms are expected to strike the UK today after days of soaring temperatures and balmy weather all over the country.
The Met Office has issued weather warnings for large swathes of England over the coming three days with thunderstorms and flooding expected in some parts of England.
Rain had already began to fall on Wednesday, which fell short of becoming the hottest day of the year so far when a high of 29.2C (84.56F) was recorded at Heathrow.
