The Guardian – ‘A wake up call’ UK hits highest temperature ever 

The Guardian says the record-breaking temperature recorded on Tuesday should be a climate “wake-up call”.

The new record highs are described as a “grim milestone” and “wake-up call”. The paper reports there are likely to be up to 1,000 excess deaths as a result of the heatwave between Sunday and Wednesday, and also quotes climate scientists warning that the UK could be on track to see similar temperatures every three years in future.
