Metro – TV Huw kid porn charge

    July 30, 2024

Former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has been charged with making indecent images of children, Metro reports. The broadcaster, 62, faces three charges over alleged activity between the end of 2020 and spring 2022. Edwards – who quit BBC in April after 40 years on screens – was arrested last November. The news broke yesterday, however, it’s been claimed that BBC staff were left blindsided, reportedly only being told of the allegations hours before they were made public.

Elsewhere, a large image of Tom Pidcock who won Gold yesterday for Team GB.

Edwards – who quit BBC in April after 40 years on screens – was arrested last November.

Team GB star Tom Pidcock responds to boos from French fans after clinching Olympic gold

Team GB gold-medal hero Tom Pidcock says it was a ‘shame’ to hear a chorus of boos from French fans at the finish line after he powered home to successfully defend his Olympic mountain bike title in Paris.

Pidcock appeared set for disappointment after suffering a puncture in his front tyre, plummeting to ninth as home favourite Victor Koretzky built an imperious lead at the halfway stage of the race.

But the 24-year-old Briton, who at one point trailed Koretzky by around 40 seconds, rallied and ate up ground on the Frenchman heading into the final lap at Elancourt Hill.

Pidcock somehow managed to avoid a race-ending crash as he overtook Koretzky in the closing stages of the compelling race before sprinting home with a nine-second advantage over his French rival.

Today’s news summary – Paper Talk

If you are someone who reads every perspective of a story, here is a news summary of all of today’s front pages from today’s newspapers; summarised in a 2-minute read

‘Ferocious knife attack on children’ & ‘BBC’s Huw Edwards charged’ - Paper Talk

    Editorial 30 July 2024.

Most of Tuesday’s front pages lead on the knife attack on children at a holiday club in Southport. Two children have died and nine injured after a knifeman entered a dance class and started the attack. A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. It’s not yet known what the motive is but it’s not believed to be terror-related.

Chancellor Reeves’s cuts and tax plans to plug the £20bn black hole in the public finances is another popular lead for the papers, with the papers offering up their assessments of the chancellor’s plans.

Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards is pictured on most of the front pages after it was announced he has been arrested for making indecent images of children.

There is also plenty of Olympics coverage as Team GB had a spectacular Monday – bagging their first gold medals in Paris.
