Ryan Mason says it is a ‘privilege’ to take charge of Tottenham again following the sacking of Cristian Stellini.
Stellini was dismissed following the embarrassing 6-1 defeat at Newcastle last Sunday, where Spurs shockingly conceded five goals inside the opening 21 minutes.
The Italian was only serving as interim manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Antonio Conte, who he was assistant to.
But after winning just one of his four games in charge, he has been given the boot, with Mason to take over until the summer.
The former Spurs midfielder has found himself in this position before having taken the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium at the end of the 2020/21 season following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
The 31-year-old has now spoken out for the first time on the matter as he prepares his side for a huge clash against top four rivals Manchester United.
‘It’s a privilege to manage this great football club,’ he posted on social media.

‘I’m ready for the challenge and know what it means to represent the club. I’ve never taken for granted the connection I have with our incredible fans and will work relentlessly with the players and staff to ensure that as a collective we fight for the badge at all times.
‘Time to prepare and focus all of our energy into Thursday’s game. COYS.’
In a statement, the club have also confirmed Mason’s coaching staff for the remaining games: Ryan will be joined by our former Academy player and coach Matt Wells (Acting Assistant Head Coach) and current Academy coach Nigel Gibbs (Acting First Team Coach), alongside Perry Suckling (First Team Goalkeeping Coach) and Gianni Vio (Set Pieces Coach), who continue their existing roles.’

At the time of writing, Tottenham are sixth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth-placed United albeit having played two games more.
Mason’s record from his last spell in charge of the Lilywhites saw four wins and three losses, including the Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
In other news, the Tottenham players involved in the Newcastle loss have publicly apologised and promised to reimburse the travelling fans.
