Today’s news summary – Paper Talk

Friday’s front pages report on the twin bomb attacks at Kabul airport, which targeted people trying to flee the country after the Taliban takeover.

A picture of two distraught women injured in one of the explosions featured as the main image on most front pages.

    …………………………

    Friday’s front pages

The i – ‘Refugees and US Marines murdered side by side’

The Metro – ‘Bloodbath at Kabul airport’

The Guardian – ‘Carnage at Kabul: dozens killed in airport bombing’

The Sun – ‘Kabul Horror: Hell on earth’

Daily Mail – ‘The tragic price of surrender’

Daily Mirror – ‘Carnage in Kabul: Barbaric’

The Daily Express says the terror warning given by foreign governments hours earlier turned into deadly reality.

The Times says the bombings will raise further pressure on Mr Biden. It was his self-imposed deadline of next Tuesday to complete the US withdrawal that drew crowds to the airport, the paper says.

In the Guardian’s words, the tenacious wait outside the airport gates for evacuation turned into a scene of terror and deaths.

“Bloodbath at Kabul airport”, is the Metro’s headline.

For the “i”, it’s “Refugees and US Marines murdered side by side”.
