Today’s news summary – Paper Talk

Monday’s front pages are dominated by the expected plans of PM Boris Johnson to raise National Insurance to help finance social care.

The death of former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding – who died of cancer aged 39 – is featured on most front pages.

The Daily Telegraph explains why three former chancellors have attacked the proposals.

The Times suggests that, with a cabinet reshuffle imminent, no minister is expected to fight the scheme.

The Telegraph reports that Lord Trimble, who was instrumental in the Good Friday Agreement, has warned President Joe Biden in a strongly worded letter to abandon his support for the Northern Ireland Protocol.

The Daily Mirror suggests that “the bravery with which she fought breast cancer was inspiring”.

The Sun describes her death as a “bitter tragedy” because the 39-year-old had been too scared to get her early symptoms checked because of Covid.
