Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Manchester United should sign Harry Kane ahead of Victor Osimhen with both strikers heavily linked to the club.
Kane and Osimhen are two of the best strikers in the world right now, with both enjoying stellar campaigns with Tottenham and Napoli respectively.
While the England captain’s abilities are already well-known, the latter really has burst onto the scene this season with 23 goals and five assists in just 28 games, with his efforts firing his club 18 points clear at the top of Serie A.
Napoli have also reached the quarter-finals of Champions League for the first time in their history, with Osimhen bagging a brace against Frankfurt on Wednesday night in a 3-0 (5-0 on aggregate) win.
Both players have been tipped to make a big money transfer this summer, with Old Trafford touted as the most likely destination, while the Nigeria international is also linked to Chelsea.
There is much speculation and debate over which one would be better suited to Erik ten Hag’s tactics, and Henry has now weighed in.
‘Personally, if I’m Man United I go Kane because he knows the Premier League,’ the legendary forward told CBS Sports.
‘Looking at Kane, this guy doesn’t need to adapt to anything. He has a way of dropping deep that would allow Marcus Rashford to run in behind.
‘Kane can play anywhere, he can adapt to any team – well except Arsenal!
‘That doesn’t mean Osimhen is not a good player, it has nothing to do with that. I think he’s going to go wherever he wants to go. He can adapt to a lot of sides and any league.
‘When you play for a team like Napoli, everything comes to him. But it’s a different ball game when you play in a front three. Balls are not always going to you at big club with three big guys up top.
‘That’s what I want to see: How he reacts when he’s not the only focal point. But other than that he has everything. He can hold the ball up well, he can run into the channel, he can finish well with his head, with his foot.’
Kane is Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer but is yet to win a trophy with them and that prospect still looks to be far off, and with just a year left on his contract he could look to move away in the pursuit of silverware.
