The Dogs Trust has used artificial intelligence to create portraits of what it calls the ‘true royalty’ – King Charles Spaniels.

The images, featuring ‘the OG King Charles’ dogs, were generated by Midjourney, which released its latest version this week.

Alongside the portraits, the charity has also released a collection of digital coronation memorabilia to raise money for the thousands of dogs in its care each year.

A golden doggy pillow, collar, tennis ball and bone are among the items supporters can ‘buy’ through its ‘Instagram charity shop’. Each item is available for a different donation amount, including a coin featuring the King Charles Spaniel for whatever contribution visitors can give.

‘It’s natural to get distracted by a shiny crown on the new King’s head, but we can’t forget the original King Charleses and all their fluffy mates,’ said creative director Simon Cheadle.

‘This week we’re inviting Britain to donate whatever they can to help Dogs Trust rehoming centres.

They’re as cute as the real thing.
