The defense of Pedro Sánchez’s brother understands that the UCO has ruled out illicit enrichment | Spain

The defense of David Sánchez, brother of the President of the Government investigated for alleged irregularities in his hiring by the Badajoz Provincial Council, interprets the recent UCO report on the case as an opportunity to settle it. Emilio Cortés pointed out tonight in Hour 25 from the SER that the investigation by the Civil Guard, on which the judge has relied to charge Sánchez, clears up some of the accusations directed at his client, such as that he had enriched himself and owned 1.4 million shares of BBVA. “Confusing nothing less than the value of the shares with the number of shares seems quite rudimentary. If the complaint is so grossly false, obviously I don’t think we will be stopped,” said Cortés, alluding to a statement by the prosecution that could lead to, but has not been ruled out, possible legal action for false reporting. The lawyer has used irony to refer to what the report includes as an error. “I think the assessment made by the police is quite benevolent. Maybe the calculator wasn’t working well that day or the batteries were dead,” he said.

The lawyer’s statements come the same day that the head of the Investigative Court number 3 of Badajoz, Beatriz Biedma, has issued an order in which David Sánchez and eight other people are being investigated for alleged irregularities in their hiring in July. of 2017 by the Badajoz Provincial Council. Among the accused is also the general secretary of the PSOE of Extremadura and president of the Badajoz Provincial Council, Miguel Ángel Gallardo. Both must go to court on January 9.

The judge’s decision comes one day after the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard delivered a report that concludes that the job that was awarded to Sánchez as coordinator of activities at the conservatories in the province of Badajoz It was created in a hurry in October 2016.

In this regard, Cortés criticized this Wednesday that he still does not have the text of the UCO despite appearing in numerous media outlets and has argued that the position created did not generate any complaints from the rest of the candidates who competed with Sánchez for it.

“This position, let us remember, was the subject of a competition in which more people competed with the person who won it, and they did not present a single administrative claim: neither a dispute nor a simple complaint regarding the call, the rules, the court, the execution and resolution of that public tender,” he argued. “Eight years later, the criminal route is used to purify or carry out a dialysis of the administrative reality of that contest,” he stated.

The square was created at a time when Pedro Sánchez had just resigned as general secretary of the PSOE after losing a vote in the Federal Committee to his critics, but the UCO points out that it was done without detailing the “primary needs” that were intended to be covered. with the position. The researchers admit that, so far, they have not been able to specify “who came up with the initiative” to create it, and they highlight that he began as a manager or head of service and ended up being a “senior management” person, at a cost of 123,000. euros annually. The report highlights that a union organization showed its reluctance to its creation by considering that the functions it would perform were already covered by a lower-ranking official.

Cortés has assured that his client “is fine, he has always been fine” and that “the only thing that worries him has been the allusions to members of his family, absolutely gratuitous, schizophrenic and hurtful. He has always been very convinced of his innocence. At times, we have both been surprised by what we have read, not only in the journalistic field, but also in the strictly procedural field. We trust that this will end soon and he will be able to live his life as a normal citizen, without needing to be looked at under the belt,” he concluded.
