Just when you thought our screens were safe, Ted is back – and he’s ruder than ever.

Seth MacFarlane has reprised his role as the controversial teddy bear for a new prequel series, airing on Peacock and Sky, and is leading a star-studded cast including Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes, Max Burkholder and Giorgia Whigham in the new adventure.

The program is set in 1993 – nine years before the first film – and will follow the foul-mouthed bear as he joins best pal John (Max) in school, causing chaos in the halls, while finding his feet in the equally wild Bennett home.

Alanna and Scott spoke to Metro.co.uk ahead of the release, and revealed that things got pretty racy on that set.

Unpacking some of the most risqué jokes, Scott – who played patriarch Matt Bennett – said: ’There was so much on the show that we would do what was scripted. And then maybe the guys Brad [Walsh] and Paul [Corrigan] or Seth would come over and say, “Try this”,’ Scott reflected.

‘It would get probably more and more risqué and sexy and dirty as it went [on].

‘I can tell you as a fan of this actress here, she had to have a scene where she was trying to turn me on. It involved her just eating a banana.

‘To sit there and have to watch Alanna Ubach just – forgive me – work a banana like nobody else I’ve ever seen. That would be the most risqué thing. It was hard to get through. It was just peeling! She was just peeling a banana!’

Alanna, who demonstrated her banana-peeling skills for us, couldn’t help but rave about her on-screen partner, explaining: ‘It helps when you have someone who has a warehouse of charisma such as Mr Scott Grimes.

‘He is just perfection. When you meet him, you feel as if you’ve known him for 85 years.’

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted caused chaos once again (Picture: Peacock)

Seth was also in hysterics over the footage, telling us: ‘That scene was a lot of work to shoot because the crew couldn’t stop laughing, I couldn’t stop laughing. Most significantly, Alana and Scott couldn’t stop laughing. Every time they looked at each other. I don’t know how they got through it, but they did.

‘Alanna has has moments like that, especially where she’s watching the porno alone in the living room, where we just linger on her and let her act, which speaks to her talent and her ability.

‘Oftentimes, you get pretty ruthless in the cutting room. When it’s working, when an actor is delivering it and they can hold their own, comedically, for that length of time, it goes in the show.

‘She really earned the right to have her entire performance in the show in both of those scenes, and several others.’

‘Alanna is hysterically funny, Scott is hysterically funny. They’ve known each other for a long time,’ he added.

‘There was a lot of pre-existing chemistry amongst all of the actors because of our prior working relationships, and friendships.

‘Alanna again, master of improvisation. There’s a lot in there that that comes out of Susan that comes straight from her f**ked up mind. She’s wildly funny and she’s not afraid to take a risk when it comes to comedy. That’s a gift.’

Filthy bananas and toy teddy bears – what more could we want?

Ted will be premiering on Peacock in the US on January 11, and on Sky in the UK later in the year.
