If you love Ted Lasso and Mission: Impossible, well, those worlds are about to collide as Hannah Waddingham joins the action franchise.
The Sex Education actress will star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 8, titled Dead Reckoning Part Two, director Christopher McQuarrie has revealed, getting fans very excited indeed.
It’s the crossover we always needed but didn’t deserve and we’re already desperate for more details.
Making the surprise announcement, Christopher shared an image of what appears to be Hannah in the film.
Wearing a baseball cap and a very stern expression, the TV star looks like she means business, so we have no doubt she’ll fit right in.
‘And Hannah Waddingham… #Godspeed #DeadReckoning’, the filmmaker captioned his Instagram post, not quite ready to divulge more about her role just yet.

Naturally, followers were beside themselves, as one commented: ‘How is this film getting better and better and we haven’t even seen it yet’.
‘YES!!!! This is going to be killer!’, exclaimed another.
Another praised: ‘you could not make me love the mission franchise any more than I do now…. good job McQ’.
British actress Hannah, 48, is best known for playing Rebecca Welton in the comedy series Ted Lasso, for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award.

Earlier this week, Jason Sudeikis confirmed that the upcoming third season of the Apple TV+ series would be the last.
Her other acting credits include Game of Thrones and she’s also appeared on the West End and Broadway in the likes of The Wizard of Oz as The Wicked Witch of the West.
Meanwhile, Tom, 60, will return to the Mission: Impossible franchise as Ethan Hunt when Dead Reckoning Part One lands on July 14, having played the protagonist since 1996.

It is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Fallout and the penultimate instalment in the much-loved series.
The starry cast includes Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson, while Part Two boats a load of newcomers.

Pom Klementieff, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell, Janet McTeer, and Mariela Garriga will appear in roles yet to be disclosed.
Specifics regarding the plot are also hush hush, but it was previously reported by Variety that tom had been shooting part of Dead Reckoning Part Two aboard a carrier.
And there won’t be a huge gap between Part One and Two either, as the latter is expected in June 2024.
