The Daily Telegraph – Tech tycoon feared dead in family superyacht tragedy
The superyacht tragedy is the splash on the Daily Telegraph. The paper reports that British tech tycoon Mike Lynch is “feared dead” and that the trip was to celebrate the end of a legal battle. The tycoon founded software giant Autonomy in 1996 and was made an OBE for services to enterprise in 2006. In June, he was cleared of conducting a massive fraud relating to an £8.64bn sale to US company Hewlett Packard.
The secondary story on the front page reports Sir Keir Starmer has backed more working from home after No 10 warned that a “culture of presenteeism” is bad for productivity.

Search for missing Bayesian passengers ‘very complicated’ because yacht is intact
The search for missing passengers of the Bayesian is “very complicated” because the superyacht is intact, according to a diver at the scene.
Marco Tilotta, a firefighter diver from Palermo, said the £30 million vessel was lying on its side at a depth of 48 metres. He said divers were unable to gain access because of floating furnishings and other debris inside the yacht.
In his interview with Il Messaggero, he said: “It looked like a scenario similar to the Costa Concordia on a smaller scale. Unfortunately, these are very complicated searches.’’
The Costa Concordia cruise ship sank off the island of Giglio in 2012 and claimed the lives of 32 crew and passengers. Divers had to navigate inverted corridors, leaking fuel and floating debris during their search of the wreckage.
Speaking about the Bayesian rescue operation, he added: “When we went down to the water around 5:30am, we found a yacht that was practically intact. It is resting on its side on the starboard side. It has no gashes, no signs of impact.’’
