Talk of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull is ‘noise’ says Christian Horner

Christian Horner Insists Max Verstappen Will Stay at Red Bull Amid Transfer Speculation

Christian Horner has dismissed speculation surrounding Max Verstappen’s potential departure from Red Bull, labeling the chatter as mere “noise” and asserting that the reigning four-time world champion will be with the team through the 2026 season. This statement comes after concerns were raised by Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko regarding Verstappen’s future, particularly in light of a lacklustre performance in Bahrain.

    “Noise” Surrounding Verstappen’s Future

The recent reports hinting at Verstappen’s possible move to rival teams, including Aston Martin, have gained traction following a disappointing race in Bahrain. Despite this, Horner made it clear in his comments to Sky Sports that Verstappen is committed to Red Bull, stating, “Max reaffirmed his commitment yesterday.”

    Performance Clause Raises Eyebrows

Marko’s unease was amplified by discussions around a clause in Verstappen’s contract, which runs until the end of 2028. The clause could potentially grant the driver an early exit should performance not meet expectations. Currently, Verstappen sits third in the driver standings, just eight points off championship leader Lando Norris.

    Horner Addresses Misconceptions

In response to inquiries about whether he was confident Verstappen would remain with the team by the start of the 2026 season, Horner replied emphatically, “Yeah. Absolutely.” He further clarified the nature of a recent meeting in Bahrain, described by some as a “crisis summit,” stating, “If you sit down with your engineers and discuss the race, I wouldn’t describe that as a crisis summit.”

    Looking Ahead: Upgrades in Development

Horner expressed optimism, noting that the team is focused on significant upgrades to enhance car performance. “We are not where we want to be. We have got some issues with the car that we are working through,” he explained. “Sort the car out, and it doesn’t even become a discussion point,” he added, implying that improved performance will diminish transfer speculations.

Conclusion: A Positive Outlook for Red Bull

As Red Bull continues to navigate the challenges posed by the 2025 season, team principal Christian Horner remains resolute in his belief that success on the track will quell any concerns over Verstappen’s future. The team is currently on a mission to rectify their performance issues, ensuring they return to competitive form in upcoming races.

With the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on the horizon, all eyes will be on Verstappen as he aims to cut into Norris’s lead and further cement his place at Red Bull Racing.
