The Guardian says attacks against the press in Mexico have increased by 85% since President Andrés Manuel López Obrador took office, making it the most deadly period for journalists since records began, according to a new report.

The image on the device of the alleged Iranian intelligence operative was chilling: A grapihc depicting images of two Iranian dissidents apprehended abroad. Next to them was an image of a journalist with the message “are you coming or should we come for you?” that US prosecutors allege he intended to kidnap.
