The image on the device of the alleged Iranian intelligence operative was chilling: A grapihc depicting images of two Iranian dissidents apprehended abroad. Next to them was an image of a journalist with the message “are you coming or should we come for you?” that US prosecutors allege he intended to kidnap.
“I had goose bumps and was crying, but this is my fight,” Alinejad said in an interview this week, shortly after learning that four Iranians had been charged with plotting to kidnap her by US federal authorities.
“I didn’t do anything but give a voice to people.”
Alinejad was not identified in court papers unsealed on Tuesday charging the four Iranians, but confirmed to Reuters that she was the target of the plot.
