Suzy Eddie Izzard cleared up confusion about her name and updated fans on what they should be addressing her as from now on in a recent Instagram post.

The British comedian and actor – who is gender-fluid but prefers she/her pronouns – revealed she had added Suzy to her roster of names back in March but that she would continue to use Eddie for public facing matters.

Announcing her new moniker as Suzy, the star explained that it was a name she had wanted to give herself since she was 10 years old.

On Thursday, she took to social media to set the record straight about her titles after confusion arose following her updated name.

Against a black square, the actor penned a simple message in white text that read: ‘As people may now well know, I have added the name ‘Suzy’ to my names.

‘So going forward I am preferring Suzy but I don’t mind Eddie. And I prefer she/her but I don’t mind he/him.

‘So no one can really get it wrong unless they call me Kenneth or Sabrina.

‘I am remaining Eddie Izzard in public. Thank you. Suzy/Eddie [sic].’

Her fans rushed to the comment section to offer support and praise following the star’s address with one noting: ‘Thanks that’s really good to know Suzy’.

Another said: ‘I met you backstage long ago in Los Angeles, after you dazzled an audience with your astonishing intellect and wit.

‘You will always have my respect and admiration. Your name choice is your absolute right. I value you and hope you are treated with all the dignity and love you deserve [sic].’

‘Lovely lovely Suzy. Still the same awesome human xxx [sic],’ was a social media user’s reaction to the news.

Explaining her decision to adopt Suzy as her own, the famous face told Matt Forde of The Political Party podcast: ‘I prefer to see she/her, I don’t mind he/him … I’m Eddie.

‘There’s another name I’m going to add in as well, which is Suzy, which I wanted to be since I was 10. I’m going to be Suzy Eddie Izzard.

‘That’s how I’m going to roll, so people can choose what they want. They can’t make a mistake, they can’t go wrong.’
