Police Scotland arrested and charged Sean Ward, 21, in connection with Mr Cosgrove’s death.

Ward, of Motherwell in North Lanarkshire, appeared before Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The suspect made no plea to the separate charges of murder and a breach of bail conditions.

Ward was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

Following Cosgrove’s death, a 28-year-old woman was arrested in connection with assault. She was later released pending further inquiry.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: “I’m aware this incident will be a cause of concern for people and I would like to confirm Raymond’s family is being supported by specialist officers during this time.”

Wemyss Bay Holiday Park said it is assisting police with the investigation.

A spokesperson added: “Our deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the deceased at this extremely difficult time.”
