Team GB are hoping for a top five finish at theParis 2024 Olympics, and if all goes as predicted they’ll achieve that and then some.
We’re just days away from the start of this summer’s games, with Britain’s top athletes already in the French capital after the short trip across the English Channel.
After finishing third in the medal table at London 2012 and then second at Rio 2016, fourth at Tokyo 2020 was an ever so slight disappointment, yet they still managed to win an incredible 64 medals including 22 Golds.
And they’ve been tipped to do even better in Paris, with OLBG’s SuperComputer predicting that while Team GB will win fewer medals at this Olympics, they’ll take home more Gold and place higher up the table.
Paris is living its Olympic dream – but the city ‘feels like a jail’
The SuperComputer thinks that Team GB will win 26 Gold, 16 Silver and 20 Bronze medals over the next three weeks, for a final total of 62, good enough for third in the medal table.
It is predicted that the USA will top the table, as they have done at six of the last seven games, with 121 medals including 39 Golds, with China second on 77 medals, 32 of them gold.

Host nation France have been tipped to finish sixth, behind Australia and Japan, which would present their best finish since 1948, with a projected 16 Golds their most since they first hosted the Olympics way back in 1900.
According to OLBG: ‘The model for the Paris 2024 Supercomputer uses over a century of Olympic history to predict the medal standings for the Paris 2024. This was done by analysing data from every Summer Olympics since 1896.

‘The model was trained to recognise patterns in how countries perform across different sports and events. The dataset includes every medal won and a variety of factors such as the country, sport, event, and gender of the event.
‘To make predictions relevant to Paris 2024, all countries that participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, excluding the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) won’t compete in 2024 as they will compete as the Individual Neutral Athletes delegation, or AIN.
‘They are not included on the medal table. The model used this data to learn and predict the likelihood of countries winning medals in each event.
‘To ensure a fair and realistic distribution of medals, the model allocated medals based on the predicted performances, adjusting to reflect historical trends.’
