The Sunday Times – Majority now expect delays in NHS treatment
The Sunday Times leads on growing dissatisfaction with the NHS.
The main story says polling has found that 58% of people no longer believe the NHS will treat them quickly if they fall ill.
The paper says Health Secretary Steve Barclay wants to recruit 20,000 nurses from Sri Lanka and India to help address the issue, and that he has spoken to the Home Office about reducing visa fees to help new arrivals.
The paper’s second lead suggests Tory front-runner Liz Truss could go further by cutting income tax as well – following calls from her allies for an end to the current freeze on the personal allowance and higher rate thresholds.

The Sunday Telegraph – Truss mulls nuclear option of 5% VAT cut
Tory leadership contender Liz Truss, the current favourite to replace Boris Johnson, is reportedly mulling a 5% cut in VAT, The Sunday Telegraph says.
The paper says the measure, modelled on Gordon Brown’s response to the 2008 financial crisis, would cost the government £38.4bn a year but would save the average household more than £1,300 over the same period.
The paper also features an image of British tennis player Emma Raducanu – who is preparing to defend her US Open title.
The teenage tennis sensation tells the paper she ‘misses her old life but will keep this one’ as she opens up about fame and success.

Sunday Mirror – New £1m X Factor bullying claim
Six former X-Factor contestants say they were bullied on the talent show, the Sunday Mirror reports.
The paper says that Syco, the production company owned by Simon Cowell, is facing legal action after six former contestants on the X Factor who claimed to have been bullied during their stint on the TV show. One described the experience as “horrific” and claims to have been “suffering for years.”
Another said they and their fellow acts were “treated like pawns” before being “thrown into the world with very little aftercare”.
There is no allegation that Mr Cowell was aware of or involved in the alleged behaviour. An X Factor spokesperson told the Mirror that the welfare of contestants “is our number one priority”.

The Sun on Sunday leads with reports Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have asked for Prince Charles’s help to get their father, Prince Andrew, back to royal duties.
The paper further reports that deputy prime minister Dominic Raab has sparked further claims of a “zombie” government after he was seen playing war games at a laser tag centre when Boris Johnson was away in Ukraine.
The paper adds that “no government can afford to be absent without leave during a national emergency” and blames what it calls the “absurdly drawn-out” Tory leadership contest for creating a “power vacuum” in Number Ten.

The Observer reports that unions are planning to join forces for a wave of strikes against the cost of living.
The paper says Britain is “facing a wave of coordinated industrial action” in protest over the issue.
The paper reports that, ahead of the annual Trade Union Congress next month, the country’s biggest unions have tabled a series of motions that would task the TUC with ensuring walkouts are synchronised to maximise their impact and deliver inflation-related pay rises.

A “huge” package of measures is on the way to help Britons with energy bills, according to the Sunday Express.

The Sunday People asks: Will the traditional Sunday roast fall victim to rapidly-rising energy bills?
The paper dedicates its front page image to a splash of a Sunday roast as it claims “£5 energy bill just to cook your dinner.”
Experts also fear the cost of cooking a Christmas dinner could set you back £10 based on a 5kg turkey.
TV chef Dave Myers said: “It seems terribly wrong. These prices shouldn’t happen – things are out of control.“
The 64-year-old – who along with Hairy Bikers partner Si King has been on our screens since 2004 – added: “We’ve never really had to factor in the energy required to cook before we even think of the price of the dish.

Daily Star Sunday – Child killing accused stabbing in cells
A man accused of stabbing a nine-year-old girl to death has been attacked in jail, reports the Daily Star Sunday. The paper says Deividas Skebas, 22, suffered “deep slash wounds” in the incident and was “lucky to survive”.
A source said: “It is a miracle he has survived it, to be perfectly honest. When he was taken out, he was not looking good. They were deep cuts.
“No-one thought he was surviving. He was taken to the hospital wing and the alleged attacker was hauled straight to the segregation wing. He’s still there now.”
