Regensburg looks back on almost 2,000 years of history. Student Sophia Reicheneder talks about what she appreciates about living in the historic city – and where she would like to see a touch more modernity.
One of the oldest stone bridges in Europe. An old town with the title of World Heritage Site. And: the (allegedly) oldest bratwurst restaurant in the world. When you take a walk through the streets of Regensburg, history emerges from almost every crack in the walls.
A breath of fresh air, however, is brought by the approximately 30,000 students who have chosen the Bavarian city as their (temporary) home. Such as Sophia Reicheneder. Originally from Passau, the 22-year-old has been studying German and English at the University of Regensburg for seven semesters. After more than three years, she knows the city on the Danube very well – but she also knows what she is missing.
