Star Sport – England v Belgium: Toney flair
The back page of the Daily Star reports on the upcoming England friendly against Belgium. The paper says boss Gareth Southgate will give Ivan Toney a start in the sold-out match at Wembley. Southgate has told Toney to show off his signature swagger on the pitch and book himself a spot on the plane to Germany this summer.
Ivan Toney to be handed England chance as Gareth Southgate tells him to bring the swagger
Gareth Southgate has told Ivan Toney to give England some swagger – and take his chance of a lifetime to make the Euros.
Toney is expected to make his first Three Lions start on Tuesday night against Belgium at Wembley. It will cap an astonishing turnaround in fortunes for the Brentford striker, who only returned to top level football in January after serving an eight month ban for breaking FA betting rules.
The 28-year-old won his solitary cap as a late substitute against Ukraine 12 months ago – and has experienced less than 10 minutes of international football. But the absence of injured captain Harry Kane has given Toney the opportunity to impress Southgate enough to earn a seat on the plane to Germany this summer against the odds.

‘If England can’t find a place for star in Euro 2024 team – they should pack up and head home’
Gareth Southgate has to get the best out of Phil Foden, says Andy Cole.
The 23-year-old has played a starring role at Manchester City this season, particularly while Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland were sidelined through injury. Stockport-born Foden has now racked up 18 goals in all competitions for the campaign as City continue their Premier League title charge.
Cole, who turned out 23 times for City towards the end of his career, insists it’s now on Southgate to get the versatile forward firing on all cylinders in a Three Lions. “The player that’s caught my eye the most this season has been Foden – he’s stood out in a very good team,” said the former striker.

Man Utd face possible European ban under Ratcliffe as UEFA refuse to change club ownership rules
Manchester United are facing a possible ban from European football thanks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group.
Sir Jim completed his minority takeover of the Red Devils earlier this season, adding them to his INEOS group. United now fall under the same umbrella as Nice, FC Lausanne-Sport and Racing Club Abidjan.
And it’s French side Nice that could cause United some headaches over the summer if both sides qualify for the Europa League. UEFA published their new rules on ‘multi-club ownership’ earlier this month.
