SNP leader John Swinney is ready to smash labour in Scotland and says he is “giving it my all” during the 2024 election campaign in Scotland.
We’re putting forward a message about making sure that Scotland’s future is in Scotland’s hands, that decisions should be made in Scotland, for Scotland.

Speaking to reporters in Edinburgh, Scotland’s first minister also claims the election is over in England and that Labour will “wipe the floor with the Conservatives”, but says there’s still a contest between his SNP and Labour.
Tories and Labour in defensive mode
PM Sunak defended criticism that the conservatives ads were ‘desperate and exaggerated’ stating “I don’t want them to pay higher tax, I want to keep cutting their taxes. I don’t want to surrender our borders to the Labour party making us a soft touch of Europe when it comes to illegal migration.”
Meanwhile during the election campaign the Labour leader Keir Starmer has criticised a Conservative campaign advert that depicts a man, woman and small child holding their hands up below the slogan “don’t surrender your family’s future to Labour”.
“I’m giving all I’ve got to this election campaign and I’m giving everything I’ve got to being First Minister of Scotland,” Swinney says.
Swinney says gender reform plans don’t jeopardise women’s security
Asked about gender reform plans and his stance on transgender rights and self-identification, Swinney deflected and said the debate had to be conducted in a “respectful fashion”, and that it’s a “difficult subject”.
He insisted he was listening to all the women in his party on this, saying he wanted “respectful debate”, and that he has succeeded in “bringing my party back together again”. Which is a wishy washy way of saying nothing significant at all.

John Swinney is ready to smash labour in Scotland
The gender reform plans in scotland are controversial and opposed by westminster. The bill would allow someone to self-identify their gender. Asked about the impact on single sex spaces, Swinney said: “There is nothing, absolutely nothing I want to do that jeopardises the security and the safety of women and girls.”
Whilst reiterating that the SNP were the only real opposition to Labour and that as the SNP leader; John Swinney is ready to smash labour in Scotland and boot the Tories out!.
