Sir David Attenborough picked as top choice to represent Earth if we ever make contact with aliens

You read it right – Sir David Attenborough has been picked as Earth’s top representative if we ever come into contact with aliens.

The TV presenter and wildlife expert, 96, was picked as the number one choice after 2,000 British adults were asked who their top selection would be.

So, if Earth were ever invited to join the hypothetical Galactic Federation with other life forms in the Milky Way, Sir David would be asked to step up.

Alongside Sir David, the prestigious likes of Professor Brian Cox, former US President Barack Obama, and Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg were also chosen in the survey, put together by National Geographic.

Among the other names nominated by Brits were survival expert Bear Grylls, actor and former wrestler Dwayne Johnson, and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Journalist and former UK government UFO expert Nick Pope said that Planet Earth presenter Sir David would be the obvious choice.

‘Once again, Sir David Attenborough has been selected as representing the very best of humanity,’ Pope, 57, said.

‘He’s spent his life exploring and showcasing the furthest reaches of Planet Earth, so it’s no surprise he’s topped the poll for who’d be best to make first contact.’

Comedian and writer Ricky Gervais, actor and singer Will Smith, and Twitter CEO Elon Musk were also picked by Brits to represent the best of humanity.

You really do begin to wonder…

The survey was conducted as part of research ahead of National Geographic’s latest documentary on aliens, titled UFOs: Investigating the Unknown.

It was also revealed that almost one in five residents of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, believe they have either seen or been in contact with UFOs.

Other hotspots for apparent alien sightings were London and Leicester, while almost half of the UK population believes that aliens do, in fact, exist.

It was revealed last month that Sir David earned a reported ‘£3,000 per minute’ while producing four TV nature documentaries in 2022.

A source said: ‘Sir David is very switched on when it comes to how he works. He’d spent over 60 years loyal to the Beeb before he looked to streaming channels.’
