Shocking details have emerged surrounding the death of Kevin Turen, a producer who worked on TV series including Euphoria and The Idol.
His death aged 44 was confirmed by his father Edward Turen, who said in a heart-wrenching statement earlier this week: ‘Kevin was so incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him.’
It has now been claimed he died after suffering a medical emergency while driving, with his 10-year-old son having to take over the wheel.
His father and close friend Michael Heller said the tragedy occurred while Turen had been driving his son home from a tennis tournament on Sunday, November 12.
They told TMZ that Turen was pronounced dead at hospital after suffering a medical emergency while his car was on autopilot, which helped his son navigate the Tesla to the side of a motorway in California before calling the emergency services.
An official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, though Turen’s father and friend added to the publication that drugs and alcohol were not involved, according to an investigation.

Turen worked as a producer on a wide variety of projects, including the 2020 film Pieces of a Woman, the 2022 Nicolas Cage movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and the mini-series Irma Vep.
He was an executive producer on The Idol, the controversial show starring Abel Tesfaye – otherwise known by his stage name The Weeknd – and Lily-Rose Depp.
He also held the same role on the Zendaya-starring drama Euphoria, across all 18 of its episodes.
Jay Penske, CEO of Deadline’s parent company PMC and a close friend of Turen’s, opened up about the late producer’s ‘passions’ in life in a heartfelt statement.

‘Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends. He was so proud of his children,’ he said.
‘He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss.
‘We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars today.’
Turen is survived by his wife Evelina and two sons, Jack and James.
According to Deadline, Turen had a photographic memory and could remember ever single frame of film he ever watched in his life.
Born in New York City in 1979, he studied at Columbia University, graduating with a degree in English and Critical Film Studies.
Turen co-founded the company Little Lamb Productions with Sam and Ashley Levinson, which produced Euphoria.
