Schools prepared if Covid forces online move next term
British schools say they are prepared to move back to online learning if they have to next term, as more children stay at home because of Covid.
Some children have been asked to take laptops home with them before Christmas in preparation of rule changes that may be implemented across the UK.
According to the BBC, more than 30 local authorities told them that some classes had moved online at local schools.
The government says it plans to keep schools in England open in January. UK schools have been advised to reopen next term under current guidance.
UK schools have been planning for a number of scenarios including remote learning and teaching in “bubbles” with a return of the staggered start and finish times.
The latest data in England show 236,000 pupils were out of school for Covid-related reasons on Thursday 9 Decemeber – thats up 13% on the last survey of school attendance was taken two weeks earlier.
