Sam Asghari and Victor Wembanyama have spoken out after Britney Spears was reportedly slapped by a security guard.
The musician, 41, was out with her husband Sam Asghari in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening when she was reportedly hit by a bodyguard,
According to TMZ, Britney was attempting to approach NBA star Victor Wembanyama and tapped him on the shoulder before she was ‘back-handed’ by a member of his security detail.
Now Britney’s husband Sam has issued a statement slamming the ‘violent behaviour’ of the security member.
Taking to Instagram, he thanked fans for their supportive messages and said he was ‘opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves.’
‘Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable. I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.’

He branded the security guard a ‘coward’ (Picture: Sam Asghari/ Instagram)
He went on: ‘The violent behavior of an out-of-control security guard should not cast a shadow on the accomplishment of a great young man on the rise [Victor].
‘The blame should fall on the coward who did this, the people who hired him without proper vetting, and a systemic culture of disregard for women within sports and entertainment.’
Sam ‘can’t imagine a scenario where an unarmed female fan showing any kind of excitement or appreciation for a celebrity would cause her to be physically assaulted, much less being hit in the face for tapping someone on the shoulder.’

He finished: ‘The changes needed will have to come from the top, and I look forward to those changes.’
Sam’s statement comes just as Victor himself addressed the incident, saying at a press conference in a clip shared to Twitter ‘something did happen.’
‘I was walking with security of the team to the restaurant, we were in a hall and there were a lot of people calling me. One person was calling me but we talked before with security about not stopping as it’s going to make a crowd.’
Victor has also spoken out about the incident (Picture: Getty)
He went on to say the person ‘grabbed me from behind, not on my shoulder’ and while he ‘didn’t see what happened’ he knows ‘security pushed her away.’
‘I don’t know with how much force, I didn’t stop to look I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner.’
He said he didn’t realise what had happened ‘for a couple of hours’ and later learned the person involved was Britney Spears, first thinking it was a joke.
A spokesperon for the LVMPD told Metro.co.uk: ‘On July 5, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., LVMPD officers responded to a property in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard regarding a battery investigation.
‘The incident has been documented on a police report and no arrest or citations have been issued. No further details will be provided at this time.’
