Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are back to transport viewers back to the heart-strong city of Wrexham in season 2 of their powerful TV series… and this time, they have a royal visitor from King Charles himself.
Ever since the Hollywood actors won their bid to buy the Welsh football team, the world has watched in intrigue and excitement over what felt like a real-life Ted Lasso tale.
The first season of Welcome To Wrexham proved a huge success on Disney Plus, as camera crews revealed what it’s really like behind the scenes for the co-owners, the players and fans who have loved the team their whole lives as the club strives to get promoted and reinvigorate the community with hope for the future.
In the new trailer for the second season, Deadpool star Ryan, 46, explains how he and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob, 46, came together to purchase Wrexham.
Rob outlines how everything was going how they wanted it to go… until Wrexham lost in a devastating semi-final defeat.
While the team and their fans have to grapple with that loss, they now have a newfound spotlight on them all thanks to the millions of people around the world who have taken an interest in their story… which also means more expectations and pressure.

Since they first started putting their time and effort into Wrexham, the community has grown in a way that is ‘authentic, real and powerful’, Ryan says.
Then, a moment arrives that appears to blow Ryan and Rob’s socks off completely.
Speaking to the camera, the Definitely, Maybe star utters the words: ‘So, the King of England called.’
The King, 74, then appears on screen, walking onto the pitch at The Racecourse stadium where he shakes Ryan by the hand.
The monarch and Queen Camilla paid a visit to Wrexham in December last year, with Rob vowing to make the royal couple ‘fans’ of the club.

Ahead of the royal visit, Ryan said: ‘I would say that we’re impossibly excited to welcome him to the Racecourse Ground, this historic church that resides in the heart of Wrexham and is the heart of Wrexham.
‘Rob and I both said early on, and this holds true and for the rest of our lives, we will do anything to uplift and elevate this community and this club and having the King pay a visit is certainly one way to do it. That’s for sure. Very excited.’
Rob also added: ‘This is an incoming call. So we hope that he’s a fan. If not, we’ll make him a fan.’
In the new trailer for Welcome To Wrexham season two, the owners stress how desperately important it is that the club gets promoted during this new season, as otherwise it is ‘completely and unwholly unsustainable’.
However, Ryan emphasises that the ‘burden’ isn’t only about getting promoted, but also ‘never letting down this community’ who cares about the team so deeply.

The trailer also shows footage of the women’s Wrexham AFC team competing against a rival side, as visibly emotional fans express what the club means to them.
In a powerful statement, Ryan states: ‘I look at Wrexham as the most special gift I’ve ever had in my life.’
We can’t wait to watch what happens next!
Welcome To Wrexham season 2 premieres on Wednesday September 13 on Disney Plus in the UK.
