Ruben Amorim shared a worrying injury update on Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Rangers on Thursday.

Bruno Fernandes scored a dramatic 92nd-minute winner for the Red Devils against the Scottish side to put them on the brink of progression to the Europa League last 16.

United’s victory has appeared to come at a cost, though, with De Ligt and Yoro both suffering leg problems in the European clash at Old Trafford.

Amorim decided to take off De Ligt at half-time while fellow defender Yoro was substituted after 55 minutes.

Speaking after the match, United boss Amorim told TNT Sports: ‘Matthijs de Ligt felt something in his leg, as did Leny Yoro.

‘We can’t risk anything. I know we have to win, but we have to show the players that everybody matters.’

In a post-match interview for MUTV, Amorim added: ‘[De Ligt] has a pain. So he cannot risk [it]. Leny felt pain also, so he cannot risk [it].

‘We have a lot of different players that can play so it was that. We cannot lose anybody.

‘Everybody has to be prepared. I need to show confidence, instead of putting players in for a long time, and we have other players who can play.’

Noussair Mazraoui, meanwhile, was left out of the squad against Rangers after picking up a knock in the defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Amorim, speaking more generally about United’s win, admitted that his side were not at their best against Rangers.

‘We are not playing our best, we are far from that, but we improved from the last game,’ the Portuguese head coach said.

‘The opponent is different, the speed is different, everything is differnet. But they tried, you can see it again.

‘The connections, the movement, some play and we did well for the time we’ve had to train. We need to be more clinical in the right moments. That can help us a lot.’
